Lectures, Symposia, and Speaker Series

Warning message

Submissions for this form are closed.

The Humanities Research Center awards competitive $3000 to $10,000 grants to host lectures, symposia, and speaker series. These grants are intended to spark programming and curricular development in areas that do not fit within departmental structures, help develop innovative paradigms for conducting humanities research, or ask new questions within existing paradigms.

This is a highly competitive call, and as a way to help ensure commitment and interest that extends beyond the applicants and the HRC, we would like to see co-sponsorship from another campus entity.

Graduate students in the humanities, or engaged in humanistic research broadly construed, are eligible to apply. Collaborations across departments are encouraged and if more than one person is applying, please designate a single student as the primary applicant for administrative purposes.

Application Materials:

  • Symposium or Lecture Series Title

  • Abstract of no more than 200 words

  • Description of no more than 1,000 words

  • Detailed budget that indicates:

    • anticipated use of the requested funds

    • all funds sought or secured from other sources

  • Names and contact information of confirmed or potential participants/collaborators

  • Projected event dates

[Please compile the above items into a single pdf document and upload below]
