Narrative Medicine in the Texas Medical Center presents a free public reading and interview with Esmé Weijun Wang the author of The Collected Schizophrenias (2019).

The Collected Schizophrenias (2019) is an intimate, moving book written with the immediacyand directness of one who still struggles with the effects of mental andchronic illness, TheCollected Schizophrenias cuts right tothe core. Schizophrenia is not a single unifying diagnosis, and Esmé Weijun Wang writesnot just to her fellow members of the “collected schizophrenias” but to thosewho wish to understand it as well. Opening with the journey toward herdiagnosis of schizoaffective disorder, Wang discusses the medical community’sown disagreement about labels and procedures for diagnosing those with mentalillness, and then follows an arc that examines the manifestations ofschizophrenia in her life.
