Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Humanities

The Humanities Research Center invites graduate students in the Rice University School of Humanities who will have received their degree between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2021 to apply. The selected fellows will spend at least half of their time conducting their own research and work on their publications under the supervision of a faculty mentor in their field of research and scholarship. In addition they will develop and teach one course each semester that is in their field of scholarship in order to strengthen their own teaching experience and develop strong pedagogical skill. In most instances, fellows also have the opportunity to work in coordination with faculty to develop initiatives in line with their scholarship, the needs of the program to which they are assigned and the strategic priorities of the School. Ideally these positions will be working in an interdisciplinary program such as CAAAS, Medical Humanities, and/or Environmental Studies.

Salary:
The position is a full-time, benefits eligible, one-year appointment. Fellows will receive an annual salary of $60,000.

Eligibility:
All graduate students in the Rice University, School of Humanities who will have received their degree between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2021 and will be in residence in Houston from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022. Applicants must have demonstrated excellent research and skills in communication, administration, and time-management.

  • 1-page proposal and reading/viewing list for an undergraduate course that ideally addresses at least one interdisciplinary programs: CAAAS, Medical Humanities, and/or Environmental Humanities
