Diluvial Houston Initiative | Research Project Development

In collaboration with the Center for Environmental Studies, the Humanities Research Center’s Diluvial Houston Initiative invites faculty and staff to submit proposals for Research Project Funding in one or more of five areas related to environmental justice and health: Immigrants and Refugees; Archive Recovery; Environmental Histories; Transmedia Storytelling; and Infrastructure Studies + Resilient Futures (see descriptions here). Preference will be given to proposals that promise to spark collaborations with local partners; have tangible benefits to the city; cultivate new scholarly paradigms; or engage multiple faculty or staff members at Rice University and other local universities and colleges. Proposals may request up to $20,000, to be expended between January 1, 2021 and June 1, 2022.

Eligibility: Rice faculty and staff in the humanities, interpretive social sciences, architecture, music, and library, are eligible to apply. Faculty and staff outside these areas may be included on proposals but should not be the primary applicant. Proposals with multiple PIs must identify a primary applicant for administrative purposes.
