Lecture : Foucault's Geometric Manner by Gregg Lambert
Wednesday, September 23, 2015
In this unapologetically “technical” talk, Professor Lambert, Dean’s Professor of Humanities at Syracuse University, will return to examine the nature of method in Foucault’s analysis of “power and its dispositfs,” beginning with the first volume of The History of Sexuality (1975). He will demonstrate how Foucault’s departure from some of the main propositions of traditional political philosophy should be understood in comparison to the modern development of axiomatics (or of an “axiomatized theory”) in modern logic and geometry.
This event is sponsored by the Rice Seminar, “After Biopolitics.”
